Do The Hard Work

What’s holding you back?

Do you ever wish that accomplishing your dream would be easy? If it was easy would it be worth pursuing? Part of the journey is learning from the challenges we face. The whole journey is hard work. Naming your FEARs and talking with someone wise is part of the hard work. I also find that making a plan is hard work.

“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” -Benjamin Franklin

I find that to be true. I have wanted to write and blog. So I started a blog. I wrote randomly and sporadically. For some odd reason, I kept hitting an invisible wall. I would write or sometimes post something but never felt committed to it. I was confronted with a question from my wife.

What’s holding you back?

The questioned caused me to name my FEAR. I realized I didn’t think my writing was good enough. My FEAR was keeping me from doing more.

I sought wise counsel. I talked to someone experienced in the area of writing, my friend and author Jeff Elkins. He said to “don’t worry if its good enough…just start writing every day.” Sounds simple enough, “don’t worry and write.” But that is just it. I over complicate things in my mind allowing doubt to creep in and FEAR establishes a foothold. Simple encouragement opened the complicated jungle I created.

Just take the next step.

I made a plan. I decided to wake early and just write first thing. The hard part is actually sticking to just writing every day.

Think about it!

What’s holding you back?

Thank you for reading and be sure to follow my blog and subscribe. You will be the first to find out in your email inbox when I post a blog.

Take your next step.
