“God is light; in him, there is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5
Think about it!
Have you ever hit a crisis point in your life that caused you to ask the question…who is God?
According to the Westminster Confession, “The chief end of man is to know God.” The catechism describes God as a spirit that is infinite, eternal, and unchanging in His wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.
John describes God in 1 John 1:5, by saying, “God is light.”
Psalm 27, David writes, “The Lord is my light and my salvation.”
Psalm 104, he writes, “You are clothed with splendor and majesty; He wraps himself in light as a garment.”
As we read the Bible, we can find many descriptions and images of who God is. This description of light is a symbol of holiness.
Who is God? He is light and holy. He is also forgiving and full of grace.
“For God demonstrates his great love for us in this; while we were still sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). He initiated forgiveness of our sins, and in doing so, released its healing power into the lives of all who accept.
Imagine what your life would look like if you accepted God’s forgiveness.
